Fairfax Station is located in Fairfax County, Virginia and has a population of 12,030. It a suburb of Washington, DC and is an ideal spot to call home for many who work in the DC area. The municipality began as a railroad station on the Orange and Alexandria Railroad. Residents of the area didn’t live near the station, because of the smoke and noise. However, many families in the area donated some of their properties for the railroad to be built. Fairfax Station’s name changed a few times during its history from Swetnam in 1897 to Faircroft in 1918. In 1921, the city’s name was finally changed to Fairfax Station.
